Born and raised in the midwest, I’m a filmmaker and artist with roots in rural America. With a wide range of skills and knowledge, from stretching fence to non-linear editing, there’s no job I can’t handle.
I hold a Ph.D. in Film and Media Studies from the University of Kansas and worked for over 10 years in higher education. In the past I have worked at Ogden Publications as the Manager of Video Content for seven magazine titles, including Mother Earth News, Grit, Mother Earth Living and Utne Reader. In my role at Ogden I was responsible for every step of the video production process from concept development and client pitch sessions, to scriptwriting, shooting, editing, graphic design and animation. Once content was complete, I coordinated with the editorial staff and marketing departments to promote the videos across print issues, websites, and mobile apps.
Currently I do freelance film/video production and work on my own passion projects including documentary films, short animations, wire sculptures à la Alexander Calder, and my pareidolic drawings and paintings (see more on Tumblr). I’m also a 2 time USCA 9-wicket Croquet champion. I live in Excelsior Springs, Missouri with my wife, Courtney, and daughter, Mackenzie.
